Charlotte Storey  I am a third year Creative and Professional Writing student at Canterbury Christ Church University.

From a young age, I have always loved to write. It has been something that has given me strength, comfort and above all, confidence. For me, writing has always been about capturing the voice that was meant for me and by honing it, I have found that everything I am and want to be is expressed so clearly on the page and for that, I am proud.

In 2017, I began to pursue my career in writing properly. At the time I had been working as a secondary school teaching assistant. I also used to attend a writing group known as Marsh Ink Writers every Wednesday. It was because of this group that I found I could truly be myself and explore my writing abilities. I knew that if I wanted my writing to be the main focus of my life, some changes would have to be made and that was when I decided to leave my role as a teaching assistant and apply for university. As much as I loved working with my colleagues, I knew that this would be one of the best decisions I could make as I knew it would help me open doorways to the dream career path that I wished to follow.

During my first two years at university, I have studied so many topics and have read so much, that all I want to do now is carry on learning and using my words to shape my voice. I have a great love for writing non-fiction pieces (memoirs in particular) and the idea of writing my own young adult fiction novel simply fills me with joy! I also love writing scripts and am part of a student society in which we produce and direct our own screenplays.

As well as this, poetry has always been a form of writing that brings me a great deal of calmness and reassurance within my life. I have always found that poetry is the one thing that helps to relax my mind.

What I love about poetry the most, is that you can write it in the way that you want as it does not restrict you in any way. It is because of this that I really do believe that poetry is the language of our souls.

Through Poetry Warriors, it is my hope that my poems will reach out to people who are in need of encouragement and inspiration when they are feeling at their lowest. It is also my wish to let people know that whatever path they are on in life, they have the power to walk it and make beautiful things happen along the way.

Elaine Longworth I am on a journey of spiritual awakening. My Reiki name is “Peaceful warrior of Mother Gaia”. I only discovered this name today. (8.7.2020). It fits me perfectly.

Poetry is a peaceful avenue for expressing ideas, feelings, intuition, dreams, spirituality, love and much more! I guess I have a passion for words and a desire to share up-lifting messages.

I studied Humanities at University, English, History & Politics. It was my English 6th Form teacher who inspired a love of language. I have always been an avid reader. I have had a thirst for knowing the depths of my soul, my reason for being, why am I here? Are we eternal travellers?

I have enjoyed a long career in the Social Housing sector. I have met all kinds of people and been amazed at the creativity of many residents that I hoped to make a difference for.

I am now focused on the journey of spiritual awakening, that as a collective, humanity is embarking on, greatly assisted by the heavenly realms. Poetry is my connection to the voice of divine love. It is through poetry I wish to share an outpouring of the divine and my own personal journey of spiritual awakening.

I have adopted “Earth Journey” as my poetic name. This is the eternal traveller in me passing on a message that our life on planet earth is not a singular event!

Poetry Warriors is to give light to these seemingly dark days, to give hope. Most of all it is to help anyone who begins to see the illusion of life and wants to discover their true identity.
